Environment
In March 2006 SATEL introduced the lead-free technology into production of its electronic equipment. It consists in the elimination of lead at all manufacturing stages, from procurement of lead-free laminates and electronic components, through the surface-mount technology (SMD), using lead-free solder paste, and the through-hole technology (THT) of electronic components assembly, using lead-free solder alloy and wire. The latest-generation machine for lead-free soldering of electronic components in nitrogen atmosphere has minimized the manufacturing waste by 90% (compared to the old lead technology) .
The equipment meets the criteria of Directive 2002/95/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of 27.01.2003, which aims to reduce the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, including lead. It has a significant, positive impact on the environment, which will not be exposed to this harmful element.
Compliance with the requirements of European Union directives is a prerequisite to manufacture electronic equipment to the highest environmental standards and increase its sales in the EU markets. Environmentally friendly products are especially recognized in those markets.
In accordance with the requirements of the Act of 29 Jul. 2005 on waste electrical and electronic equipment SATEL has been registered by the Chief Inspector of Environmental Protection under the registration number E0007636WBW.
Nature Friendly Company
Since 31 May 2007, SATEL has been participating in the "Nature Friendly Company" program, organized by AURAEKO. AURAEKO, the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Recycling Organization, was established by Polish companies to support all introducers and manufacturers of electric and electronic equipment.
The program aims to promote the idea of sustainable development, i.e. management of the company without jeopardizing the natural environment. Along with AURAEKO we make sure that the equipment we introduce does not endanger the environment when it becomes e-waste. The introduced electrical and electronic equipment contains many hazardous substances which pose a huge threat when it is used up. We must, however, note that the negative consequences do not result from the hazardous substances, but from improper handling of the e-waste.
This program helps to spread the idea of conscious consumption and WEEE management among the end users of equipment. The Poles should be kept persuaded of the advisability of conscious e-waste segregation, as a pro-ecological way of life.
